About the Scholarship

The Friends of Governor Dick Environmental Advocacy Scholarship supports students who actively advocate for environmental protection, sustainability, and responsible stewardship of natural resources. This $500 award recognizes meaningful environmental engagement and encourages continued advocacy in the community, school, or even on a broader level.

Environmental advocacy can take many forms — large or small, formal, or informal.

Students from all academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Award Amount

💰 $500 (one-time award)

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be a high school senior or undergraduate student.
  • Be enrolled at an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrate involvement in environmental advocacy or sustainability efforts in their local community.

All majors welcome.

What Counts as Environmental Advocacy?

Examples include:

  • Environmental clubs or organizations
  • Community cleanups or conservation projects
  • Sustainability initiatives at school or in the community
  • Environmental education or awareness campaigns
  • Research, innovation, or creative environmental projects

How to Apply

Submit:

  1. Short Essay (500–750 words)
    Describe your environmental advocacy, its impact, and how you plan to continue this work.
  2. Proof of enrollment
  3. Optional Supporting materials (photos, links, or project descriptions)

Applicants are evaluated on:

  • Commitment to continued engagement.
  • Clarity and thoughtfulness of the essay
