Hike With Mike!

We will meet at 11:00am on the lawn in front of the Heights Community Building, 64 Pine Ave, Mount Gretna  Heights
parking just down the street at the
Mount Gretna Fire Company, 41 Boulevard Ave

Come for a walk in the woods with Lebanon County Commissioner, Mike Kuhn and the Friends of Governor Dick.

This informative hike will accommodate people of all activity levels.  Ultimately, we will hike to the tower, however, we will start by visiting the last major timber harvest for a first-hand look at the results; observing habitat destruction, flourishing invasive plants, and the loss of mature oak trees due to oak decline and exacerbated by the forestry activities. Contrasting this, we will hike to the next stand of mature forest set to be timbered, observing the natural regeneration of native trees and the comparable lack of invasive plants. As a convenient stopping point for those not continuing to the tower, the hike will intersect with Oak Avenue for easy access back to the starting point and parking.

Appropriate footwear and a bottle of water are recommended.
